50 years ago (1958)
H.A. Hethcote, manager of the big Montgomery Ward store on Colby Avenue, awarded employees who were winners in a merchandising contest. They were J. Von Klein, who won a freezer; E. McDonald, $350 cash; G. Thorn, $100; and Laura Matlock, $50.
Horizon Club meetings planned for tonight were in the homes of Diana Norwood, 1203 Larch St.; Darlene Walden, 1815 Rainer Ave.; and Jean Henry, 4315 Federal Ave.
25 years ago (1983)
Nancy Wels of Everett was named to chair the Regional Advisory Committee of the Department of Social and Health Services, which helped develop DSHS policies, programs and budgets for Snohomish and neighboring counties. She was also an Everett Community College trustee and United Way state executive board member.
Barb Spencer was more than a seventh-grade instructor at Olympic View Junior High School. She was also a soccer coach, a soccer player, a basketball coach, a softball player and a strong promoter of athletics.
