50 years ago (1958)
Groundwork for another motion picture camera school was laid at the last meting of the Everett Amateur Movie Club. Highlight of the session was the installation of officers with Carol Boynton, who served as the club’s first president in 1949, returning to that office again. Serving with him were Lawrence McCurdy as vice president and Doris Liming as secretary.
Everett Exchange Club selected its first Boy and Girl of the Month. They honored Lewis Hunsberger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hunsberger of 3807 Hoyt Ave., and Susan Newcomb, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Newcomb of 5408 Second St. in Lowell. Congratulating them were Jack Bennett, speaker for the day, and Roy Mason of the club.
25 years ago (1983)
Former Herald advertising director Herb Partridge was now vice president of development, Western Region, for Landon Associates, a newspaper advertising sales and marketing company.
Several new buildings were under construction in Everett. Port Gardner Medical Center was going up across from Providence Hospital at 1100 Pacific Ave. Migel’s Restaurant was being constructed at 2821 Pacific Ave. Construction had begun on alterations and additions to Pioneer First Federal Savings at 10012 First Drive SE.
