50 years ago (1958)
Gerald “Jerry” Kravik was named president of Snohomish County United Good Neighbors at the organization’s annual meeting at the Everett Public Library auditorium. Elected to serve with Kravik through 1958 were Robert Nord, first vice president; Ed Bordsen, second vice president; George Cyr, third vice president; Louise Dobler, secretary, and H.J. “Pat” Anderson, treasurer.
Junior Theater Guild was presenting “The Broken Doll” at the Everett Public Library auditorium as part of the story hour program conducted by Mary Sloan, librarian. Cast members were Ann Lind, George Forbes, Frank Cearley, Melody Hunt, Dianne Burt, Laura Nastri, Margaret Rowley, Nancy Wynne, Jerry Yesland and Lena Ann Cearley.
25 years ago (1983)
“First and D,” a play written by Babette Karpilow of Snohomish, drew upon episodes from the community’s past. The play was performed before two sold-out audiences. Karpilow had also completed her second Snohomish play, “Broken Nose.”
The Everett High gymnastics team defeated Shorecrest 109-103, getting sharp performances from a consistent Shana Beyer, who won the beam event and finished third in the floor exercises and vault, and Brenda Durr, who won the vault and bar events. Cammie Edwards did a nice beam routine, said coach Tim Boyd.
