50 years ago (1964)
Rod Fortier sold 183 booster stickers making him the top salesman in the recent Monroe School Patrol booster program. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Fortier, 3205 Pine Street. Police Sgt. Mike Lewis presented a transistor to Rod, while Edythe Pavish, supervisor of the school patrol, looked on.
“Arsenic and Old Lace” was being presented tonight and tomorrow night by seniors of Snohomish High School. Among the players were Tony Kibbie, Nancy Kelley, Sue Lowery, Ernie Early and Jack Lewis.
25 years ago (1989)
Soviet refugees Gennady and Anna Mukhin and their daughter Tatiana stood to pray on their first American Thanksgiving. Betty Cadwallader, manager of the Lakeside Manor apartments in south Everett, put on the dinner for 13 families including 94 children, that now lived in the complex.
Marysville was trying a unique solution to a traffic mess. It involved a Park ‘n’ Ride lot on Ash between Second and Third, a joint project between the city, state, Community Transit and Raymond Thorsen. Thorsen, owner of the Village Restaurant helped fund the project in return for more parking spaces.
