50 years ago (1957)
A dredge forced muck out of the settling basin opposite the Port’s 14th Street Fill as work on the Everett Harbor Project progressed. The material dredged was being deposited on the bayward side of the jetty. A retaining dike was being constructed further up the river.
The Rev. Joe Kopp, African missionary, was the guest speaker for the October dinner meeting of the Christian Business and Professional Womens’ Council of the Everett area in the Elks Home. Special vocal music was provided by Jack Scherrueble of Everett. A representative from the Rock and Gem Club spoke.
25 years ago (1982)
Governor John Spellman told reporters that recreation was good and that we needed more of it. Spellman defended spending money on tourism and encouraged Washingtonians to get out an sniff some flora and pet some fauna.
