Several builders had homes under construction at Eastmont, a new development near the Broadway cutoff and Silver Lake Highway. They were O.J. McLaughlin, J. Henry Carlson, George Bumstead, H.K. Visscher &Son, Roy L. Edwards, Richards &Himes, John Spoelstra, Leo Boyer, Walter Sand, O.R. Rux, Chet Solie and Metropolitan Construction Co.
25 years ago (1982)
North Middle School’s football team had a record a professional team would envy. North’s gridders had played two seasons without a loss and had outscored opponents 116-18. Some of the standout players were Jeff Chandler, Jim Maples, Cory Decker, Damon Taggart, Gordy Hill, Todd Crawford, Stuart Kieland, Tom Lane, Tom Newland, Brian Bachelder and Mike Perez.
