50 years ago (1957)
Jim Burton, 16-year-old at North Junior High School, was not likely to forget his bowling game on Christmas Eve. He bowled a 299 at Broadway Lanes. Using a brand new ball, he missed a perfect 300 game when his 12th shot came in high on the headpin and left the No. 3 standing. Ernie Miller, who rolled a 299 in November, witnessed the game.
The B&M stores wished a Happy New Year to all. This came from the four managers, Pete Eckrem, 2615 Colby Ave.; Jim Perin, Hewitt Ave. and Broadway; Laverne Sackman, Marysville; and Kenny Cea, South Everett.
25 years ago (1982)
A popular neighborhood Christmas display on Clinton Place was back again this year in the memory of its originator, the late John Olson, a former Everett police captain. It looked as good as it used to in the 1950s.
Sometimes Mukilteo City Council meetings had a different feel with Dorothy Montgomery Johnson also in the Rosehill Community Center. Johnson had been Mukilteo’s answer to Jane Fonda since she came to the community five years ago from Ayr, Scotland. She taught dance classes to about a dozen women.
