50 years ago (1957)
Central Lutheran Church was to have an Advent party tomorrow in the church to mark the four weeks before Christmas. Participating in a skit “Oh How Shall I Receive Thee” were Ella Saxhaug, Hazel Jacobsen, Adelaide Dykstra, Berit Ringo, Doris Olig and Cheryl Leam. In addition, the Women’s Music Federation Chorus would sing.
25 years ago (1982)
Chaplain Don Starr recently was promoted to the rank of captain in the Paine Field Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol. He was pastor of New Hope Assembly of God Church in Everett and had been squadron chaplain for more than two years.
Fredric Soulier, a student at Everett Community College, was one of 10 students who placed fourth in a national competition. He designed and fabricated an efficient stove as the primary heat source for a 2,500-square-foot home. His instructor at EvCC was Owen Owens.
