50 years ago (1957)
Appointment of Dan Griffin to the post of treasurer of the Muscular Dystrophy fund drive to be staged in Snohomish County this month was announced by Edward Impala, county chairman. Griffin was an Everett attorney, married and the father of four daughters.
Fire prevention was the theme a meeting of the Olivia Park PTA meeting in the school auditorium. Ray Randleson showed a film. Vicki Wells and Dennis Lovalle provided entertainment. Refreshments were served.
25 years ago (1982)
A King County deputy prosecutor would return to SnohoÂmish County as chief criminal deputy when prosecutor-elect Seth Dawson started his new job in January. Larry McKeeman would replace Jim Roche, chief criminal deputy under prosecutor Russ Juckett.
It was business as usual in Snohomish. After 30 years of coaching, Dick Armstrong still enjoyed going to work. His Panther teams had won 151 games, lost 43 and tied four. His next game was at Everett Memorial Stadium in the state Class AAA playoffs against Clover Park of Pierce County. Armstrong believed the best position for football and prayer was with the eyes up and the knees down.
