50 years ago (1957)
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Weaver were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house for friends and relatives at the Baker Heights Hall, 1401 Poplar St. The couple were married in North Dakota and have resided in Everett the past 14 years. Most of their children would be here for the celebration.
Everett’s Rainbow Girls were holding a bazaar Saturday in the Masonic Temple with a turkey luncheon. Barbara Brinkley and Colleen Foraker were co-chairwoman for the event. Lynn Morehouse was worthy adviser of the organization.
25 years ago (1982)
Among the names in the Notebook column were Bruce Overstreet, who was activities director of the Interfraternity Council at the University of Oregon, and Becky Folkstad, who was transferring from a clerking post in the Island County Clerk’s office to a similar post in the Snohomish County Clerk’s office.
The operators of a whitewater rafting service had new plans for one of the county’s oldest hotels. Rapid Transit Inc. recently purchased the venerable Bush House in Index. Kelly Schoonover, one of the owners, planned to make the 84-year-old hotel a picturesque place for river passengers to stay the night.
