Jay Kempes would show slides on “Our Feathered Friends” at the meeting of Everett Garden Club Study Group in the Library auditorium. Also on the program was a demonstration by Honoria Philben on “What’s Wrong With This Picture?” Horticultural hints would be given.
Edna Patchett, 804 Rucker Ave., would play host to members and friends of the county Women’s Christian Temperance Union. Reports from the recent state convention held in Tacoma would be given. Clara Aldrich would have charge of the program and business meeting.
25 years ago (1982)
Her name was Susan Quattrociocchio-Gordon, but those not proficient with tongue twisters could call her Susie Q. She was Everett Community College’s associate dean of vocational education and educational development, another mouthful. Her hyphenated name was a gift this week to her husband, Morton Gordon. She figured that her name would become a conversation topic.
Arvid’s Historic Woods, a business owned by Martha and Arvid Augustson, milled 1880-1890 patterns of mouldings, baseboards, chair rails, wainscoting and decorative “bullseyes.” Area dealers of the historic woods were E &E Lumber, Martin Lumber, the 1890 Emporium, Tizz Door, Barmon Door, Sea-Lynn Paints and Thurman’s Hardware.
