The fire-ravaged fish processor Al-Ind-Esk-A Sea sank at 10:14 this morning. Taking on water, smoke wafting from her stern and fire smoldering on her bow, she rolled onto her side. First the stern went under, then the sides, and finally the bow went smoking like a spouting whale. The ship was resting at an angle at the bottom of Port Gardner Bay about 200 feet below the surface.
Colby Avenue had changed from four lanes to two between 23rd and 34th streets, allowing up to 180 additional parking spaces. Parking slots were added in areas where parking wasn’t allowed previously, according to Ron Cameron, traffic engineer.
