50 years ago (1957)
Eleanor Jensen gave details of the discussion groups at the Soroptimist International of Everett meeting at the Elks Home. Delegates to the regional meeting in Pasco, Mildred Simpson, Jean Jefferson, Esther Johnson and Betty LeGros, repeated a Paul Bunyan skit they performed at the conclave. Virginia Miller reported on the club’s recent card party at the Masonic Temple.
The congregation of First Baptist Church of Everett voted unanimously to proceed with plans for construction of their new church building at the corner of Pacific and Wetmore avenues. Now with the go ahead, the target date for beginning construction was July 1. Their present church was in the 2900 block of Lombard Avenue.
25 years ago (1982)
The Everett Elks were proud to announce their new master chef, Bill Finely. A Sunday brunch was available for $3.95 in the Harbor Room, the room with the million-dollar view. Menu included Canadian bacon, sausage, ham, crab, eggs, hash browns, sweet rolls, assorted fruit, juice and coffee.
Snohomish physician Leeon Aller Jr. was recertified as a diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice through a recent recertification examination, which had to be accomplished every six years to retain the status in the medical profession.
