50 years ago (1957)
The successful bidder for the Mount Pilchuck ski lodge, to be erected at the new Mount Pilchuck State Park, was Curtis Construction of Granite Falls. Construction was to begin immediately, with plans under way open the area to skiers as soon as the structure was completed. It would be an A-frame with pumice block walls and a cedar shake roof.
Commercial Sheet Metal at 4213 Rucker Ave. in Everett now had a plumbing and heating department. They offered complete home and industrial service, licensed and bonded gas installation, mechanical contractors and a contractor service department.
25 years ago (1982)
Kim Mukhar, 18, of Alderwood Manor was on her way to Miami next month to complete in the Miss Teen All-American pageant. Mukhar, a freshman at the University of Washington and a graduate of Lynnwood High School, was recently named Miss Washington Teen.
Freeway, the dog who made his home on the I-5 median for the past three months, had apparently vanished. Mitchell Fox of the Progressive Animal Welfare Society said there hadn’t been a sign of him the past two weeks, suggesting he was dead, relocated or rescued by someone who would reform him.
