50 years ago (1957)
Marge Parker won the odd holes competition at Municipal Golf Course. She recorded a low score of 31&189; in the first division. Runner-up was Mary Kent with 33. Helen Odegard had 34&189;. Jean Henry won the second division with 34&189;. Mickey Ronken had 40&189;. Lois Smithson copped the third division with 34.
Sunset Garden Club met at the Community Hall in Legion Memorial Park. Their first meeting of the season featured June Adams demonstrating how to take plant cuttings, and Al Weiss discussing the new perennials. It included an open forum and social hour.
25 years ago (1982)
Ernie Dyre was the head coach for the Everett School District athletic program. The Everett grad greeted the job with unbridled enthusiasm. He’d had experience in other leadership roles including coaching Cascade High School’s football, wrestling and track teams.
Everett Seafood Wine &Cheese, next to Pay N Pak at 6324 Evergreen Way, was so confident that the public would find its seafood the freshest and tastiest, it was giving away one pound of Penn Cove mussels. It was for one day only and no purchase was necessary.
