50 years ago (1957)
New to Everett Junior College this fall would be Joan Capps of Seattle. She was a graduate of Hunter College of New York and received her master of arts in mathematics at the University of Wyoming. Another new instructor at the college was Kenneth Engman, who had both his bachelor and master of education from Washington State College, would teach photography.
Officials of School District 15 reported that Lynndale Elementary School, now under construction, would not be quite completed in time for the first day of school. Only half of the classrooms were ready, so double shifting would be necessary the first week or two.
25 years ago (1982)
Sgt. Joe Belnic of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Department received True Detective Magazine’s Distinguished Service Award for his “diligent investigative work” in the Charles Rodman Campbell murder case. Belnic credited other detectives, deputies and secretaries as doing “a bulk of the work.”
Pirate’s Pizza was having the grand opening at its second location next to the Safeway superstore in the Cascade Shopping Center, 7601 Evergreen Way. During the fete champagne was being included with every meal. A Las Vegas brunch was served on weekends and holidays.
