50 years ago (1957)
Posing in old-fashioned garb with some interesting antiques were three of the younger set who publicizing the upcoming Trinity Episcopal Church antique show and sale in the new parish hall. They were Susan Knehr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Knehr; Dexter Brown, son of Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Brown; and Wendy Bay-Schmith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Bay-Schmith. Antiques were lent by Ann Leslie Cruikshank, Joan Wells and Mr. and Mrs. David Wells.
25 years ago (1982)
Kazimierz Pater’s dream of freedom had come true. The communist Polish government recently granted his wish. He, his wife Zofia and their children Lukasz, Ziemik and Dobek had emigrated from Poland and were now living with Dr. Leslie and Carol Nelson of Everett.
In what may have been a first, Burlington Northern Railroad offered to pay Snohomish County nearly $11,000 for expenses resulting from last October’s derailment near Marysville. The county originally billed the railroad $16,000 in fire, sheriff and public works department overtime pay.
