50 years ago (1957)
The spring semester honor roll at Washington State College was announced. Ranking high in scholarship from Everett and vicinity were Leland E. Hudson, Leonard Dean Hudson, Fritz Helmar Kohne, Larry A. Petershagen, Myrna Lee Pierson, Robert S. Rae Jr., Michael A. Walker, William Webb Dugger and Nils Alf Ladderud.
Frank “Benny” Mardon, postal carrier, was appointed to the town council in Marysville to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Ernest Vigil. The appointment was announced today by Mayor Gerald Dudley. Mardon would represent the newly annexed area on the north.
25 years ago (1982)
An open house would be held for Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Charles and Gloria (Walker) Centala and their five children in honor of their first visit home after extensive duty overseas. It would be at the home of Gloria’s mother Jeanne Walker, in south Everett.
Four area members of the Marine Crops Reserve recently took part in two weeks of active duty training at Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif. They were Cpl. Duane A. Lemke of Everett, Cpl. Daniel E. Major of Marysville, Staff Sgt. Warren L. Harkcom Jr. of Edmonds and Cpl. Sean P. Heath of Coupeville.
