50 years ago (1957)
Everett residents off to sunnier places included Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt Erickson and Dr. and Mrs. George Petersen off to Australia and the South Pacific aboard the Matson Lines’ SS Monterey and Connie Goldfinch and Lee Pendleton on spring vacation in Hawaii from Helen Bush School.
Charles Epping recently purchased the Kelly Apartments at 2614 Rucker Ave. from William McGirk. He planned to raze the building built in 1892 and erect a 14-unit apartment structure. The building was built by the Rucker brothers and originally called the Rucker Block.
25 years ago (1982)
Names in the Notebook column included Jack Krischano and Hugh Wright, 40 years with Scott Paper; Jose Gonzales, student of Ruth Headley playing a piano recital at the Arlington Morman Church; Rod Hermes, struggling with a newspaper vending machine; William and Bertha Enger, celebrating their 42nd wedding anniversary; and Mary Ellen Egge, celebrating her birthday.
Tuesday nights were Ladies Nights at McChesneys at the Everett Pacific Hotel, 3105 Pine Street. The lounge served well drinks for just $1.25 from 8 p.m. until closing.
