50 years ago (1957)
Tomorrow was the grand opening of The Sea Horse in Mukilteo. The dining establishment specialized in fresh sea foods and charbroiled steaks, featured Sunday family dinners, and offered sidewalk cafe service. Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Wilkes were owners and operators. Hors d’oeuvres would be served tomorrow and a seahorse ice carving would be on display.
25 years ago (1982)
Vicki Stevens of the Snohomish Branch of North Homes Realty was honored last month as the top listing agent for Century 21. She listed property valued at more than $791,899.
Kathy Haase of Darrington High School wrote that Darrington was small, but not boring. There wasn’t a McDonald’s or a movie theater, but there were other attractions. David George, a junior at the high school, said he went to Clay Banks almost every nice day. The town’s most frequented swimming hole, Clay Banks was located northwest of town on the North Fork Stillaguamish River.
