50 years ago (1957)
Brenda Balsom, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Balsom of Everett, received the highest national honors of the Camp Fire Girls. She received her Torch of National Social Leadership at the Grand Council Fire of the Cascade District of Pilchuck Council after completing her service requirements.
Boys on the Chuck Lee swim team were Steve Pancoast, Phil Warnock, David Williams, Johnny Larson, Bob Larson, Bob Vasey, Larry Norby, Russell Curran, Greg Muncaster, Andy LaMar, Ed Eggert, Mickey Enberg, Gordon Reykdahl, Eddie Kasey, Fred Stephenson and Neil Westover.
25 years ago (1982)
Everything came together for the Everett American Legion team as Coach Jim McDowell’s club blasted the Burlington team 11-1. Everett slashed 15 hits, committed no errors and Mike Ollom pitched a four-hitter with nine strikeouts. Everyone connected for Everett including Steve Furiak, Mike Taggart, Dave Jacobs, Gary McKeehan, David Hutt and Chris Chandler. Everett was now 7-1 in the league and 14-5 this season.
Doug Haugen was the salesperson of the month for Century 21 North Homes Realty, whose commercial office was at 13322 Highway 99 S. The firm provided equal housing opportunity.
