50 years ago (1957)
The First Baptist B team won their league championship. Kirke Sievers was captain of the team, coached by Len Heath and Howard Erickson. Other boys on the team were Dave Anderson, Randy Francisco, Gary Johnson, Ed Klein, Paul Lind, Jim McKean, Dennis Mills and Ken Putnam.
Calling attention to the Spring Music Festival to be held at the Olympic View Junior High School gymnasium were Linda Nelson, Bobbi Andrew and Karen Burt. Richard Nelson would be leading the instrumental and Lois Dexter the vocal numbers.
25 years ago (1982)
Rep. Jim Mitchell of the 39th District was to speak at a joint meeting of the Snohomish-East County Rotary Club and Snohomish Chamber of Commerce at the Silver King Cafe in Snohomish.
Two members of the Tulalip Tribes received permission to build a light industrial park on 40 acres of reservation land. Richard and Cherie Snapps planned to build large storage facilities on a site they owned north of Boeing’s Tulalip Test Site at the 116th Street interchange of I-5. Guy Madison, administrative assistant for the Tulalips, said that the development could not have an adverse impact on tribal fisheries.
