50 years ago (1957)
Probably one of the most talked about weapons of defense in recent years, the USS Nautilus, would visit Everett, U.S. Rep. Jack Westland announced. The Nautilus, the first atomic-powered submarine of its type, would be in West Coast waters the middle of June.
The highlight of the 23rd annual banquet of Calvary Baptist Church was the burning of the mortgage on the church building.
25 years ago (1982)
Cheryl Deckard’s life was the berry best. She was the managing director of the Marysville Strawberry Festival and in charge of the grand parade as well.
Salmon returning to Scriber Creek would find their trip home made easier by a project of Explorer Scout Peter Crabb and other members of Lynnwood Troop 42. They recently built a weir to help migrating fish get past a culvert blocking their way near Poplar and Larch ways. Norm Curtis headed Lynnwood High School’s salmon enhancement project.
