A crane hoisted an overhead crosswalk into position that would make getting from the company parking lot to the plant a lot safer for Scott Paper employees. The walk crossed Norton and on the west side connected with another crosswalk over Great Northern Railway’s right of way. It was being erected by Howard S. Wright &Co.
Today and tomorrow marked the grand opening of Tuerk’s Stadium Drive-In at 38th and Broadway. Tuerk’s had a self-service dining room, two self-service windows, car drive-in window service and a big surfaced parking lot. Opening day specials included a nickel shake or malt when buying a hamburger and free soft drinks.
R.C. McIntyre of Everett, who six years ago at age 56 took up freelance wiring, recently won first place in a poetry contest sponsored by Byline Newsletter and second place in an essay contest sponsored by the National Citizens Coalition for Nursing Home Reform.
