Judith Higer, 4801 View Dr., was the week’s winner in the VFW amateur talent contest held in Tacoma. She was sponsored by Old Guard Post No. 2100 of Everett, and was a piano pupil of Virgie McDonald. Next she would compete against five other semifinalists from west of the Cascades.
Students at Immaculate Conception School had a real history lesson with guest speaker Elliot Roosevelt, son of President Franklin Roosevelt. He and his wife, Patty, lived in Bellevue. Arrangements for their appearance here were made through Patty Roosevelt’s sister, Nina O’Neil.
The Edmonds School Board voted to close Snoline Elementary for the next school year. Snoline joined Maple Park and Olympic on the school closure list. The board chose not to pair elementary schools such as Lynnwood and Spruce at this time.
