Maier Electric had moved from 67181/2 Highway 99 to a new location at 2008 Hewitt Ave. Neighboring Everett businesses wishing Maier good luck in their new store were Erickson Bros. Furniture and Hausmann’s Broadway Market. Maier’s new neon sign was designed, manufactured and installed by Ray Keith Neon.

A electrical short in an overhead crane caused a small fire at Scott Paper Co. but was put out quickly. Bob Schaller, fire department battalion chief, said workers had noticed the fire when burning dust and particles fell to the floor.

Four top-level administrators in the Edmonds School District were retiring this year. They were Al Christensen, Fred Babb, William Fortune and John McClane.
