50 years ago (1964)
Robert Schillberg took his oath of office from County Auditor Stanley Dubuque yesterday, moments after County Commissioners announced his appointment as Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney. Schillberg, chief civil deputy prosecutor for the past two years, replaced Lloyd Meeds, who was assuming his new post as U.S. Congressman.
A package of fun was in store for Cascade High students and their invited guests at the Santa’s City Christmas Ball tomorrow night. Corsages were not in order, but he ball was a semi-formal affair. Suzie Horn was chairing the decorating committee with help from Alan Johnson, Donna Rome and Barbara Weber.
25 years ago (1989)
Robin Winters checked the merchandise at an Everett Mall kiosk that sold his Sneaker Pack creations. In just three months since the Sultan man started marketing the colorful novelties at 11 malls in five Western states, he had sold some 8,000 Sneaker Packs.
Joel Faber apparently really enjoyed falling from a rope into the pool at Forest Park recently. Joel and his eighth grade classmates were treated to a session at the pool for taking care of responsibilities at Everett Christian School.
