50 years ago (1957)
Jud Norway, for the past three years president of the First National Bank of Everett, was named the institution’s first chairman of the Board of Directors at the annual stockholders meeting. William Jenkins was named to succeed Norway. Two new members of the board were George Deucy and Charles Dickey Jr.
Dale Slater, Dennis Wintch and Art Hodgins, students at Longfellow School, looked on as 11-year-old Jose del Rivero of Mexico City demonstrated his skill with a rope. Del Rivero was making many friends during his four-month stay in Everett.
25 years ago (1982)
Eric Wahleen of Everett reflected on his days during the Depression. He was fresh out of high school with $100 and looking for adventure. A 14-year-old boy taught him how to ride freight trains. Wahleen rode the rails observing, but not living, the grinding poverty of the time.
