50 years ago (1957)
L. Wayne Haworth, foreman of the duct shop, was the first Boeing employee at the Everett plant to reach the 25-year mark with the company. A special presentation of his service pin was conducted with Charles Williams, manufacturing manager, doing the honors.
Ice covered the Snohomish River at Snohomish, an unusual occurrence. The ice was two to three inches thick in most places. Upstream, the Skykomish and Snoqualmie and other rivers had ice far out from the banks in places but swifter currents kept ice from forming completely across.
25 years ago (1982)
A leaded-glass window with the words Public Library was put into place by Stan Price and Ron Glowen at the Everett Public Library. The window originally was in the Carnegie Library building at Oakes Avenue and Wall Street which now housed county offices.
The Arlington High School computer learning center was just a month away from opening. The school board approved the purchase of a 12-computer network and software system from Computer Corner of Stanwood for $14,000. Linda Weston and John Thomas would be the instructors.
