50 years ago (1957)
Bill and Agnes Young celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. They were married in Everett and had spent all of their married life south of Lowell. She was the daughter of the pioneer John Stecher Sr. family.
Girls of Marysville Junior High School had formed a tumbling team. Some members were Linda Nygard, Gayle Richards, Connie Julian, Emily Smith, Pat Cameron, Donna Hartley, Charlene Paul, Beverly Vang, Sharon McMurty, Sharon Halvorson, Judy Escott, Bill Jo Anderson, Marilyn Robinson, Shirley Girven, JoAnn Wade, Susan Johnston, Gail Cross, Cheryl Paddock, Elvina Stump and Cheryl Acree.
25 years ago (1982)
Steelheaders were the only busy fishermen of late. Jim Hart of Everett had the largest at 17 pounds, 4 ounces, drifting at the Lewis Street Bridge at Monroe.
Scott Katz was Cascade High School’s premier heavyweight wrestler. Standing 6 foot 1 and weighing 270 pounds, he was busy trying to become not only the best heavyweight wrestler in the Western Conference AAA ranks, but also the best at district, regionals and state.
