50 years ago (1956)

Barbara Giles was selected by Everett Exchange Club as its Girl of the Month for December, and the honors as Boy of the Month went to Jerry Wright. Presenting their certificates were Don Black of the host club and Walt Price, Everett Junior College coach and speaker at the luncheon meeting.

John Pierce, a member of the eighth-grade art class at South Junior High School, showed off scale house plans and models of rooms and houses made by the class under the direction of art teacher Helen Chapman. The modes and plans were on display for the PTA meeting this week.

25 years ago (1981)

Dennis Erickson, offensive coordinator at San Jose State University for three seasons and a native of Everett, was named head football coach at the University of Idaho.

Promoted in the Air Force to the rank of senior airman was Christopher Mitchell of Everett, a security specialist at Loring Air Force Base, Maine. In other Air Force news, Airman 1st Class Margaret I. Petcoff of Bothell was named “outstanding airman of the month” at George Air Force Base, Calif.
