50 years ago (1956)
The new terminal building for the Snohomish County Airport at Paine Field was nearing completion. The building, which would be ready for occupancy at the beginning of the following month, would include a baggage area, an outside passenger area under a canopy, waiting rooms, restrooms, an observation deck and other facilities for passenger and freight service.
Room mothers of Hillcrest PTA were conducting three bake sales. They would be at East Everett Grocery, Lutkins-Lians and South Lake Stevens Grocery. Proceeds would be used for Christmas candy for students at the school.
25 years ago (1981)
It was official. Ray Stephanson was the newest member of the Everett City Council. Stephanson, a telephone company executive, pledged to work for more jobs and try to encourage more businesses to locate in Everett.
People flocked to the Everett Civic Auditorium for the opener of the 1981-82 season of the Everett Symphony. Many came from Everett and the vicinity, but some came from much farther away. The Southeast Asian community was invited to attend. A welcome was read in Vietnamese, Laotian and Cambodian.
