50 years ago (1956)
Elected to head the 1957 March of Dimes drive in Everett and Snohomish County were Stan Heim and Everett Commissioner of Safety C. Arvid Johnson.
Two former Everett students and one from Monroe received certificates of high scholarship at the University of Washington. William E. Messenger of Everett received a junior certificate, while Donald W. Brodie of Everett and Brita R. Follis of Monroe were awarded sophomore certificates.
25 years ago (1981)
Teamwork and defense buoyed Everett Community College to its fourth consecutive nonconference basketball win as the Trojans defeated Lower Columbia 96-76. High scoring honors went to Mark Strother and Derrick Worthy with 17 points. Wendell McDowell scored 15 and Don Sims 12.
