50 years ago (1956)
Kjell Vatne, exchange teacher from Norway, was to be guest speaker at the meeting of Washington School PTA. Vatne, now teaching English at Everett High School, would speak on Christmas customs and education in Norway. Everett Mothersingers were to sing Christmas selections and David Brewer would play an accordion solo.
A trumpet trio was performing at this Sunday’s free concert in the Civic Auditorium. Bonnie Ray, Gerry Westfall and Dave Cleator made up one of the groups playing with the Everett High School concert band and school dance band.
25 years ago (1981)
Recently commissioned as second lieutenants after completing Air Force officer training school at Lackland AFB, Texas were John Wahl Jr. and George Crawford, both of Everett. Wahl would take pilot training at Laughlin AFB, Texas, and Crawford would receive missile launch officer training at Little Rock AFB, Arkansas.
Janet Loomis took time out of her college prep courses at Cascade High School to study animal care at the Sno-Isle Vocational Skills Center. The center was recently named the most outstanding vocational program in the Northwest and one of the top 10 outstanding programs in the country.
