50 years ago (1956)
Construction was to start the first of December on the first section of a new $183,000 hall for Trinity Episcopal Church. Plans included an auditorium with a capacity of 400. The basement would house the Sunday school classroom, a recreation room and cooking facilities. The building was designed by John Rogers, son of the Rev. Edgar Rogers, the former rector for whom the building was dedicated.
Leon Spillers of Everett had returned from Springfield, Mass., where he had completed an intensive business life insurance course at the training school of Monarch Life Insurance Co.
25 years ago (1981)
A party at Taylor’s Landing in Mukilteo was held to say goodbye to a longtime friend. Doris McMillan retired, ending a 15-year career as a waitress, 12 years with Taylor’s. Her husband, Don, recently retired from the county. The couple were looking forward to gardening and traveling.
The Dorothy Fisher Ballet Center in Edmonds recently opened its new season under new ownership. John and Helen Wilkins, who came to the Northwest from Canton, Ohio, offered graded classes at all levels in jazz and classical ballet, including pas de deux and pointe.
