50 years ago (1956)
The La Jolla chapter of Horizon held an informal installation of new members in the home of Sandi Dalberg. The new members were Gretchen Rabbit, Linda Phillips, Trena Boiven, Diane Stephens, Cheri Hoback and Lynette Berube. For their service project, the new members would work for an hour after school in the United Good Neighbors office.
Future Farmers of America members from Granite Falls High School completed a school improvement, installing a new sidewalk. Among those who worked on the project, under the supervision of agriculture teacher Clifford Skaar, were Richard Hunt, Ron Perrigoue, Ray Hughes, Bob Bowyer, Zeal Barstow, Frank Bear, Bob Ottaway and Lee Bogart.
25 years ago (1981)
Honored for his community service as a union member, Tal Johnson received the George Meany Award from Snohomish Labor Council President Mike Sells. Johnson was the scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 36, sponsored by Christ the King Lutheran Church of Snohomish.
Airman Gary White of Alderwood Manor graduated from the Air Force egress mechanic course at Chanute Air Force Base, Ill., earning credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force.
