Everett’s senior and junior high schools were assembling Thanksgiving baskets for area residents. Making final preparations were Girls Club adviser Esther Johnson, Boys Club adviser R.L. Crumbaugh, and project chairs John Denney and Carol Kimball.
25 years ago (1981)
The 19th annual Everett coin show was taking place at Normanna Hall, and one of the rarest coins for sale was a lowly penny. However, it was a bronze 1943 minted in San Francisco. Most pennies from that year were made of zinc-coated steel because the government wanted to save copper during World War II. Coin dealer Jack Morgan said the initial asking price was $60,000.
