50 years ago (1956)
Robinson Marina was opening tomorrow on the Everett waterfront. It was the only facility of its type in the area. It included a 5-ton hoist for launching boats into a dredged canal with access to the bay, a top-rated outboard repair shop, a complete carpenter shop and a full line of marine products.
Grace Millican Moe, with the cooperation of the Parks Department and Everett Recreation Council, was arranging the Music in the Bowl program at Forest Park. Among the acts were dance numbers by Barbara Long, Dixie Martin and Jimmy Carter, students of Patty Hudson.
25 years ago (1981)
Led by the pitching of Penny Aliulis and the hitting of Jody Smith, Washington Recycling of Everett defended its Washington State Women’s slow-pitch softball crown in Walla Walla this weekend, winning the title game over the E.C. Cats from Mount Vernon.
A broken waterline sent up a 30-foot geyser today on Terrace Drive. Water service to residents between 41st and 44th streets was knocked out for 1 hours after a construction crew ripped a house tap from the main line at 4106 Terrace. Water Department Supervisor Ken Sprecher said the crew was installing new sewer lines.
