50 years ago (1956)
The public was invited to inspect the recently remodeled second, third and fourth floors of the First National Bank Building at Hewitt and Colby avenues. Nine months of construction had completely changed the three floors. A self-service elevator was installed with a new stairway rebuilt around it. The First National Bank of Everett continued to occupy the street level while the Cascade Club was on the top floor.
Guild 9 of Providence Hospital Children’s Association was to meet in the home of Shirley Olsen, 1524 Baker Ave., with Jacqueline Hayes as co-hostess. Cards would be played.
25 years ago (1981)
Kay Wise of the Kenwanda Golf Course was the Snohomish County Women’s golf champion for the second year in a row. Others who placed were Lorraine Anderson of Kayak Point Golf Course, Peg Hammond of Cedarcrest Golf Course, Marge Warren of Snohomish Golf Course, and Edie Gossan of Wellington Hills Golf Course.
Matt Gunderson of Everett was the winner of a national grand prize in the jack-counting puzzle contest from the Young Hobby Club. Other winners were Andy Fuller of Clinton; John Karanson of Marysville; and Bryan Williford, Tracy Thomson, Carla Parsons and Teresa Parsons, all of Snohomish.
