50 years ago (1956)
Welk Music Center at 2607 Colby Ave. was pleased to announce that Jascha Galperin, concert violinist and teacher, had joined the teaching staff and would be available for private lesson on all string instruments. Galperin’s many credentials included being a graduate of the Berlin Conservatory of Music and a member of the Vancouver Symphony.
25 years ago (1981)
Ninth-grader Julie Miller and eighth-grader Tom O’Hara were Falcons of the Month at Mountlake Terrace Junior High School. Miller, daughter of Jim and Karen Miller, was an honor roll student and member of Illuminati. O’Hara, son of William and Joyce O’Hara, was student body treasurer and active in school sports.
Three-year-old Jathan Weerdhuizen struggled with an empty strawberry box as he and his parents, Harold and Laura Weerdhuizen of Stanwood, enjoyed “family day” at Biringer Berry Farm. Senior citizens and families had run of the place while a Dixieland band paraded through the rows of strawberries.
