50 years ago (1956)
Ed Kasey, 14, and Darlene Vasey, 10, broke national records as the YMCA swim team made a giant size splash in the AquaRodeo swim tournament in Livermore, Calif. Everett registered 57 points in the meet, packing off the team trophy for clubs who traveled 100 miles or more.
Floyd Persson Jr., 12, was the man of the hour as the Red Sox of the Pinehurst-Beverly Park area claimed the county Little League championship. Persson pitched a blazing fast ball with the poise of a veteran. He also scored a run and batted in the winning tally. Scrappy Bill Isaacson, 10, hit the dirt to score the winning run.
25 years ago (1981)
A fourth site was considered for the new $16 million Snohomish County jail. This site was at Wall Street and McDougall Avenue. The land was at one time the site of the city’s bus barn, but was now being leased to a trucking company. Jerry Clark, was manger for the jail construction project.
