More than awards would go to youngsters at the annual All-City Playday at Forest Park. It was sponsored by the Everett Police Association and Everett Local of the Firefighters’ Union. Showing prizes were Rolf Brannistrom, Irv Welch and Darwin Marl of the fire department, and police officers Dick Maruille, Ed Sylte, Dick Sanford and Mike Lewis.
A roller-skating competition would be staged at the IOOF Hall in Marysville under sponsorship of the Marysville Rollerettes. The contests would be in figure skating and freestyle. Barbara Rand was in charge of the day’s skating.
Scaffolding was being placed around Everett’s story pole at Rucker, Evergreen and 44th in preparation for restoration work. During the next few weeks the pole would be painted in its original colors and repaired. The area at the pole’s base would be landscaped.
The price of a Community Transit monthly pass was going up. September Transpasses, which went on sale at banks and other locations, now cost $22.50 for a two-zone bus ride.
