50 years ago (1956)
Lucille Strom, president of the Everett Soroptimist Club, reported on the international convention of the women’s service organization held last month in New York. Helen Sawyers, who was appointed chair of Civil Defense for the Northwest region of the Federation, checked over the souvenirs brought back by Mrs. Strom.
Edward C. Kundert, instructor of Spanish at Everett High School and a veteran of 20 years’ teaching and counseling experience at Washington State College, was joining the faculty of Everett Junior College this fall as admissions officer and instructor of foreign language.
25 years ago (1981)
John E. Pinette, son of Jack and Mary Pinette of Everett, would be ordained a Roman Catholic priest later this month. He was currently a student at the American College of the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium. His first Mass of Thanksgiving would be celebrated at Everett’s Immaculate Conception Church, joined by the Rev. John Renggli, pastor of Immaculate, and the Rev. John Bowman of St. Mary Magdalen Church.
“A Legacy to Us” was the topic of Dr. Robert H. Warren’s message at First Presbyterian Church. Warren served at First Presbyterian from 1970 to 1978 and was now semi-retired and living in California.
