50 years ago (1956)
The new Everett Dental Center was open at 2332 Colby Ave. The building, owned and remodeled by Robert Goldfinch and Ivan Rimstad, would eventually house six dentists in addition to laboratories and waiting rooms.
Typical of most high schools in the county, Snohomish High School was to graduate its largest class in history with 145 seniors to receive diplomas at commencement exercises in the large gymnasium next month. The Rev. W.J. Bowerman would deliver the message. Student speakers would be Nancy Medema, Ruth Felton, Joan McDaniel, Jack Salvadalena and Dave Stecher.
25 years ago (1981)
Everett attorney Richard Johnston was awarded the Defense Research Institute’s exceptional performance citation at the national conference of state and local lawyer defense associations.
Readers could uncover reference material in the all new “underground” Arlington Library, whose exterior walls were insulated with heaped earth. Vicki Williams of the Sno-Isle Library said that there were 30,000 books in the new library, compared to 8,000 in the old. Joan Newcomb was heading a library friends group.
