50 years ago (1964)
Linda Griffin won the highest rating in the superior bracket of the 10 Everett piano students entering the national Piano Guild auditions in Seattle. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emmitt Griffin and in the ninth grade at South Junior High School.
Candidates for berths on the American Legion baseball team for Everett High School students were to meet tomorrow at the junior college field, 13th Street and Rockefeller Avenue. Coaches Don White and Frank Coleman urged all Everett High boys to try out.
25 years ago (1989)
Snohomish County residents had their choice of fire and ice along with a deluge of rain when they dodged lightning bolts and hail.
Ray McCann of Mukilteo said he watched a single bolt drop out of the sky and then split, one branch hitting his house and the second smashing into a home across the street.
For many years, south Snohomish county growth had led to increased traffic, frustration and worry for Mays Pond residents.
They were able to voice their concerns to county officials when they spoke about the problems on Brook Boulevard, just west of the Bothell-Everett Highway.
