50 years ago (1956)
Taking advantage of sunny weather, Everett’s street painting crew applied a bright new line down the center of Mukilteo Boulevard in the Forest Park area. L.H. McNew was head of the department.
A fundraising movie sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 55 was being shown at Swan’s Trail Elementary School in Snohomish. The public was invited, and proceeds would be used to purchase equipment, including tents. Scoutmaster for the troop was Doug Coleman.
25 years ago (1981)
The Internal Revenue Service was searching for evidence of corruption in contracts for the construction of nuclear plants by Washington Public Power Supply System. Snohomish County PUD was the largest public utility district invested in WPPSS, pronounced whoops.
Jon Nordby of Mill Creek was recently elected vice president of the Howard S. Wright Development Co. of Seattle. Nordby, a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business, was project manager for the Orbanco Building in Portland, Ore., and the new One Bellevue Center office building in Bellevue.
