50 years ago (1956)
You could follow the searchlight to 3827 Rucker Ave. and the grand opening of Tony Glab’s Texaco Service. New from top to bottom, it had the latest lube and mechanical equipment. For kids, there were free Texaco hats and lollipops. For mom, there was a houseplant, and for dad, an Everfresh cigar.
The boy and girl of the month were Dale Tallman, 4732 West View Drive, and Norma Rice, 2309 McDougall Ave. Making the presentations for the Exchange Club were Judge Tom Stiger, Sgt. John Olson, deputy city attorney Tom McCrea and Norma Dale.
25 years ago (1981)
Gertie Perrin looked out her window and surveyed the burgeoning businesses and housing plats around the intersection of 76th Avenue W. and Olympic View Drive. The area officially belonged to Edmonds, but the signs said “Welcome to Perrinville.” The area had been known as Perrinville since 1938, when Perrin and her husband moved out of Edmonds to what was then wilderness.
