The zoo at Forest Park might be fun for tots, but it could be a difficult hike for adults. To get to the zoo, located on a slope, it was necessary to go down and then climb up a steep hill. Other problems included a broken road surface and crude fence posts. If the park board’s proposed $75,000 levy for modernization passed, the zoo would be relocated, minus the meat-eating animals, to a site on level ground.

Post 1040 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Lynnwood named its God and Country Essay winners from among 643 entrants. They were, Bobby Park, fourth grade; Eric Cedargreen, fifth grade; Darrin French, sixth grade; Patti McCauley, seventh grade; and Heidi Decellia, eighth grade.
