50 years ago (1956)
Patrolman Ed Sytle was elected president of the Everett Police Officers Association. Members elected Del Sacks vice president and re-elected Herb Filer treasurer and Ken McDannald secretary. They also named John Hovde to a three-year term as trustee.
A former Everett man, Cyril Miller, was the inventor of an electronic popcorn vending machine soon to be placed on the market by Cymac Corp. of California. Miller’s machine used high frequency radiation to pop popcorn inside a cellophane bag. Previously Miller had worked for the Rumbaugh Department store when it was on Colby Avenue.
25 years ago (1981)
Realty Consultants Inc. of Marysville honored three of its employees at an awards banquet. They were Karen Boede, Sharon Harriss and George Martin. In other real estate news, E. Ralph Peterson had joined Everett’s Duce Realty.
The Everett Seagulls swept a Western Conference baseball double-header to boost their overall record to 7-0. Leading the way was Rick Soriano, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles. Others who played well were Larry Bean and Mike Anderson.
