50 years ago (1956)
Arlene Anderson and Daniel Kremer were selected by the Everett Exchange Club as the boy and girl of the month for February. They were honored at a luncheon at the Monte Cristo Hotel. Presenting the certificates were Ed Sierer and Adolph “Poncho” Kunkel.
Plans were unveiled for the new high school at Holmes Corner in the south end of Snohomish County. The $2 million facility would include 60 teaching stations, athletic facilities and administrative offices. It would replace Edmonds High School, which would be converted into a junior high school. Also planned for the Edmonds School District were new elementary schools at Melody Hill and Perrinville.
25 years ago (1981)
Martha Scholl was celebrating her 106th birthday. Scholl, who had recently moved to Burien after living in Everett since 1906, was recovering from a cataract operation and lens implant that restored her sight. She credited hard work for her longevity.
After only two years in the real estate business, Kathy Tredway was awarded the top saleswoman of the year award at the annual Red Carpet Duce Realty awards at the Everett Yacht Club.
